Why pick the Algarve for your winter stay
Weather
In Europe there is no place better to spend the winter than the Algarve. Mild temperatures, half the rain and with 3,300 hours of sunshine per year, the Algarve boasts more sunny days than anywhere else in Europe and our winter guests wear their shorts for most of their stay and eat lunch outside in the sun on our villas’ patios and terraces.
Our region offers many outdoor activities such as golf, biking, riding or taking a walk in the Ria Formosa nature reserve that in the winter are very pleasant and relaxing since there are far fewer people about. In January and February the almond trees are in blossom and the wild flowers are starting to appear.
Relaxation and activities
Winter in the Algarve is the time to take advantage of the region without the crowds and relax, or stay active by golfing, walking or biking!
No queing for tables in restaurants and long walks on empty beaches serve as perfect relaxation and let you see our region in a new and different light. Did you know that the pictures of the typical cave beaches are always taken in the winter since in the summer since they are far to full? Come and experience the postcard Algarve!
Safety and health
As Forbes reports, Portugal ranks as the third safest country in the world. In the Algarve violent crime is rare, and petty crime is limited.
Health care in Portugal is high quality and a fraction the cost of health care in the United States. EU passport holders can use their EU Health insurance cards.
The Algarve has various state-run and modern private hospitals that offer excellent care.
The resort itself has a medical center with a German ‘Allgemeinarzt’ and a UK ‘GP’.
Winter Offers in our villas
Between the first week of November and end of April our villas can be booked on a monthly basis at significantly reduced rates. These rates are based on our standard winter occupation of one couple per villa, please enquire for additional capacity. Please note we only accept direct bookings for winter rentals.
Our monthly rentals include all services and fees apart from electricity, gas (if applicable) and cleanings:
- The electricity (and gas, if applicable) reading is taken together with you on arrival and then monthly, and your consumption is calculated and charged at national rate (rate sheet supplied) and without any markups.
- We require that our cleaner visits at a minimum every 2 weeks to ensure the general upkeep of the house, these cleanings are charged at cost to you, depending on size of house and number of people, please enquire. You can decide if you would like to contract any additional cleanings.
Since the electricity is paid by you, you can decide if and at what temperature you would like to run the pool heating. There is no extra charge for this feature during longterm rentals and the pool service is included.
Unlike many villas in the southern region our villas have been winter proofed with double glazing, heating in all rooms in case of colder nights and a log fireplace for that cosy athmosphere. We supply premium-standard winter bedding for all rooms.
Remote working
All our villas have fibre internet and we can provide an extra table to give you more work surface. If there is something else you need to make your remote working more comfortable, please enquire.

We are absolutely delighted with our accommodations at Vale do Lobo. The owner met us on our arrival and was so enthusiastic about sharing her time telling us about the unit, the area, activities, where to shop etc, and encouraged us to contact her or her husband at any time – which we did!
We love the location which is an easy walk to two beautiful beaches and across from the tennis courts to watch ongoing tournaments.
The unit is beautifully and newly furnished, comfortable and quiet, and provides all the amenities we could ask for. It has an amazing rooftop area where we have spent many an afternoon for reading and cocktails, and an entrance patio that is perfect for coffee in the morning sun. We really feel this is our home away from home and highly recommend it to all our friends back home.

We have rented many villas over the last 6 yrs, this is our favourite. The owner responded quickly to our initial enquiry, she gave lots of information about the house, the area, how to get from the airport etc. Friends decided to join us & when we contacted the owner she was happy to accommodate our request.
She met us at the house, she ran through everything we could possibly need to know.The house…. Wow ,it’s gorgeous, tastefully,beautifully furnished, very comfortable sitting room, amazingly comfy beds & pillows with good quality bed linen, fluffy towels & also pool towels. Very well equipped kitchen, plenty of everything! The fridge freezer is huge, there is a washing machine which was great. The outside area is perfect, a lovely table with seating for 8, luxury sun beds with deep mattresses & the roof terrace is ideal when the sun moves from the pool area. Plenty of restaurants locally. I would give 10/10 for the holiday experience, perfect. Thank you!
